The Great Wall winds its way from west to east， across deserts， over mountains， through valleys， till at last it reaches the sea. 万里长城从西到东，穿过沙漠、越过高山、跨国深谷，蜿蜒而行，最后直到海边。
注意区别下面几个词：
through介词“穿过“；thorough形容词“彻底的“；though连词“虽然“；thought名词“思想“。
介词用法小结from / to / over / through
本单元重点地练习了一些介词的用法，如：from， to， over， through等。下面就简单的了解一下介词。
一、介词的作用
（一）构成介词短语，在句中可用作主语、宾语、表语、定语、状语或同位语。例如：
From eight to ten is my busiest time of a day. 8点到10点是我一天中最忙的时候。（作主语）
Is he at home? 他在家吗？ （作表语）
He is a man with one leg. 他是个独腿人。（作定语）
Make yourself at home. 不要客气（像在自己家一样）。 （作补语）
Have you been to the city of Piza? 你去过比萨城吗？（作同位语）
（二）与动词结合构成“两字动词“、“三字动词“。例如：
I ran into Jess on the street the other day. 前几天我在街上碰见杰斯了。（两字动词）
You should get rid of your bad habits. 你应该改掉那些坏习惯。（三字动词）
二、几个常用介词的用法
1. above“在......上方，高于“；“比......多，优于“。例如：
Flags waved above our head. 旗帜在我们头顶上飘扬。
He thinks himself above the other boys. 他认为他自己比其他男孩都好。
2. across“横过“；“在......的那一边，在......的对面“；“交叉“。例如：
My house is just across the street. 我家就在街对面。
He sat with his arms across his breast. 他两臂交叉在胸前，坐着。
There is a bridge across the river. 有座桥横过这条河。

Can you tell Tom from his twin brother? 你能区分汤姆和他的孪生兄弟吗？
You‘d better not judge a man from his looks. 你最好不要以貌取人。
4. over“在某物的上方/上面“；“从......上越过，从这边到那边“；“遍及......各部分“；“超过某一时间/数量，溢出“；“正在（作某事）的时间“；“表示感情的原因“。例如：
The plane flew over our heads. 那架飞机在我们头顶上飞过。
I went over the river in a boat. 我乘着一条小船过了河。
He is famous all over the country. 他闻名全国。
He is over forty now. 他现在四十多岁。
They talked over the best over their meal. 他们在吃饭时谈论这次考试。
She often cries over a film. 她看电影时常哭。
5. to “表示行程的终点、目的地“；“表示向......方向、对象，对于“；“表示增加、结合“；“表示达到某种程度、长度、高度、宽度、数量等“；“表示目的、结果、限制范围“；“表示从属关系“。例如：
