Step 1. Revision.
Revise the articles with “language practice”.
Check the homework (Activity 1).
这一步为承上启下,复习并导出新课。检查学生预习作业,培养提前预习的学习习惯。
Step 2. Pracitce
1. Finish Activity 2 and 3, then check the answers in class.
2. Make a summary : the use of the articles.
(by the students first and then the teacher)
在操练中复习并巩固冠词用法。充分利用学生的智慧自主地去总结和归纳冠词用法,有助于自学能力的培养。
Step 3. Free talk
Talk about the population of Yiwu now, 10 years ago and 10 years from now.
结合义乌实际让学生畅谈义乌城市人口的变化,为下一步人口话题的引出做好铺垫。
Step 4. Practice
1. Work in pairs to finish Activity 4, then listen and check the answers.
2. Read the chart and answer the questions in Activity 5.
3. Complete the diagram in Activity 6.
4. Complete the passage in Activity 7.
本活动设置了一定的语言情境,通过学生的听、说、读、写四个方面全面地对数词的读写做了大量的操练,同时也让学生在练习的过程中充分感受到人口问题的严峻性。

1. Listen and choose the best summary.
2. Listen and answer the questions.
3. Work in pairs and discuss this question:
Do you think car clubs would be popular in China? Why/ Why not?
4. Complete the passage in Activity 11.
听力的设置分成了两个阶段:初步的整体感知和细节的把握。讨论问题的设置既有助于学生对听力内容的进一步深化,也有利于对学生发散性思维的培养和口语能力的锻炼。
Step 6. Around the world
1. Read the passage and catch the main idea.
2. Ask some questions about the passage.
通过对这一短文的阅读在拓展了学生视野的同时,也进一步让他们感受到了人口问题和水资源短缺问题的严重性。
Step 7.Group work
Module task : Making a graph in groups
Choose a topic for your graph
Choose a country, region or town which
interests you. It could be the place where you live.
Decide the years you want to look at—for example, now,10 years ago and 10 years from now.
Research the population of your place in those years. Write it down carefully.
本活动是本课教学内容的升华,让学生根据自己的生活实际,运用所学的语言知识,充分利用小组的集体合作的智慧共同讨论出一个感兴趣的话题。让学生体会学以致用的乐趣。对学生合作意识的培养以及发散性思维训练都有着一定帮助。
Step 8. Homework
Make a graph.
开放型的作业代替机械、枯燥的抄写,培养学生的主动思维能力,又体现了学以致用的原则。
